Our highly educated team of very talented educators are fully accredited music and movement specialists who bring joy, passion and many years of experience to every class creating a warm and welcoming environment where you can connect with your child, fiind support as a parent and enjooy seeing your child grow and develop.

Our passion is providing the best in early childhood music classes for little ones from birth to age 7 and their families! All of our Kindermusik Educators hold BA or BS degrees in music therapy, music education, elementary education, music performance, or business administration, and are trained and fully accredited by Kindermusik International.

Sheila Lawson, Director & Owner

Sheila Lawson earned her BS degree in music therapy from the University of Minnesota and worked in the field of mental health with children and adults for 11 years before establishing Kindermusik of Charleston in 1987. She was the children's music director at Christ Our King Catholic Church for 18 years. In addition to teaching all levels of Kindermusik, she also teaches several private piano students weekly.

Sheila has taught countless children and families since bringing Kindermusik to the Charleston area 39 years ago. Her passion for the importance of early childhood development and bringing the best possible early music experiences to young children and their families has been the driving force behind Kindermusik of Charleston since its inception. Sheila is married and has three daughters, all Kindermusik graduates, and seven grandchildren.

Polly Hunter

Polly graduated from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill with a BA degree in vocal performance in 1995 and completed her BS degree in music therapy at Charleston Southern University. She has taught with us since 2006 and also works as a music therapist in a variety of facilities in the Charleston area. Polly has sung professionally as a soloist in the Charleston area and with the Charleston Symphony Orchestra Chorus, as well as teaching voice lessons. She is also a member of the St. Andrews Episcopal Church women’s contemporary music program. Polly brings not only her extensive experience with special needs children and adults and her love of children and music to her classes, but also her exceptionally kind, loving, and joyful nature and her ability to nurture both the children and families in her classes.

Polly is married with two children, both of whom participated in Kindermusik classes!

Riley Pace

Riley earned her bachelor’s degree in music therapy from SUNY Fredonia University and joined Kindermusik of Charleston in 2017. She works in a variety of settings with both children and adults with special needs, providing music therapy services. Additionally, she has taught private piano students and sings professionally, performing at various venues in the Charleston area. She brings her love of music, commitment to children, and desire to enhance the lives of her students and clients to our program with great joy and enthusiasm!

Anna Lawson Langley

Anna graduated from Clemson University in 2011, having earned her bachelor’s degree in elementary education, and joined Kindermusik of Charleston in 2018. She taught third grade at Pinckney Elementary School for 11 years, has sung professionally, and pursued graduate coursework in oral and written language development. She brings her lifelong love of music, teaching, and children to her Kindermusik classes with joy and enthusiasm. Likewise, she has a passion for early childhood development, particularly in the area of reading and language skills in the preschool years. Anna is also a Kindermusik graduate, having attended classes as a child from ages 1-6 years (often several times a week) with her mom, Sheila. Anna is married with two boys, both of whom have participated in Kindermusik classes since infancy!

Meredith Harvey

Meredith Harvey, MT-BC, NICU-MT, has been a licensed Kindermusik Educator since 2018 and loves helping children and families experience the joy of music from the very beginning. She graduated from Charleston Southern University with a B.A. in Music Therapy in 2019 and holds specialized training in NICU Music Therapy, which deepened her passion for supporting early development through music. She joined Kindermusik of Charleston in 2018 while completing her music therapy internship.

Meredith also serves as a board-certified music therapist and Inpatient Program Coordinator at MUSC Health. Her professional experience includes pediatric care, inpatient adult rehabilitation, and community-based music programs for individuals with disabilities. She sings with the Charleston Symphony Chorus and serves as a choir section leader at Old St. Andrew’s Parish Church in West Ashley.

Meredith lives in Charleston with her husband, a percussionist, and they love making music together for their two cats. She believes that music is for everyone—at every age and stage.

Jenn Keeney

Jenn earned her bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in biology from Wake Forest University. She worked in medical devices in NYC after college before relocating to Mount Pleasant with her husband. She played the trumpet professionally throughout high school and has always enjoyed both playing and attending classical concerts. Her other passion has always been children, babysitting at a young age, and now being involved with her sons’ schools and activities. Jenn is married with two boys and enjoys being a stay-at-home mom. She was a Kindermusik parent for a decade, with both of her boys starting as newborns and continuing all the way through ukulele classes! She loves sharing her own love of music and children with Kindermusik of Charleston families!

Amy Jackson

Amy earned her BM in Vocal Performance from Furman University and her MM in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland and performs downtown with Sound of Charleston. She also maintains a private studio of voice and piano students. Amy has taught music in various capacities for over 15 years and is excited to have added Kindermusik to her list of teaching offerings. She has always possessed a love of music and working with children. Amy has also worked with new moms through MOPS in the Charleston area. She brings her joyful and creative nature and love of music to our Kindermusik families.Â
